Per te Armenia is an italian cover version of Pour toi Arménie, a charity single written by Charles Aznavour (originally from Armenia) and Georges Garvarentz following the devastation caused by the magnitude 6.9 Mw earthquake in Armenia on December 7, 1988. The French version had been recorded by an all-star cast of singers and had topped the French single charts, selling more than 1 million copies.
The Italian version was written by Andrea Lo Vecchio and was also recorded by the most famous Italian artists at the time, of all styles and generations, from Gigliola Cinquetti to… Sabrina Salerno. A music-video was released to accompany and promote the song, a clip was in which Sabrina appeared fleetingly (at 2'40).
The single peaked at #19 on the Italian charts in 1989.
