Dub version (5:40) aka Remix

1987- Mixed by Roberto Rossi and Matteo Bonsanto

Despite its title and length, this version is not the instrumental of the Extended version. Very good Dub mix which emphasizes the rapper's voice and the backing vocals.

Available on:
7" (B-side): Portugal
12": Australia, France, Germany (3 releases), Greece, Italy (red & white graphics picture-sleeve), Japan, Mexico, Netherlands, Philippines, Portugal, Spain, UK (red & white graphics picture-sleeve), UK (first picture-cover), UK (on the 12” titled “Re-Mix”), US

Mid-price compilations: Like a yoyo (Karussell, Legend), Boys (LT Series)

Remixed by Walli Brill (8:43)

1987 - Remixed by Walli Brill

This (good) remix was only released in Germany. It emphasizes the rap once again. But this version is finally less interesting than the standard Extended version as it slows down the rhythm of the song.

Available on :
12": Germany (on the 12” titled “Remixed”)

1988

PWL remix (7:01) aka 12" version (in the US & Canada)

1988 - Remixed by Pete Hammond for PWL

On 30 May 1988, Ibiza Records in the UK re-released the single Boys which was a minor hit in January of the same year. A new 12" featuring this remix produced for the UK was released. If remix is a typical PWL production, this version is not so different from the standard Extended version. This version was later released in North America.

Available on :
12": Canada, UK (on the 12” titled “Re-Mix”), US
Bootleg compilation: Complete Mixes (Brasil)

Boys aka Summertime Mix or Remix, Edit (3:00)

1988 - Mixed by Roberto Rossi and Matteo Bonsanto

Boys, Hot girl, Sexy girl and Kiss me were edited to feature on the b-side of the spanish 12" release of Multimegamix.

Available on:
Multimegamix 12" (B-side): Spain

Remixed by Peter Slaghuis (7:00) aka DMC 88 Mix

1988 - Remixed by Peter Slaghuis

This remix is very different from the others as it features some elements of House music. Produced by a DJ for the DJs, it was destined to be played in the Clubs.

Available on:
Various artists compilation: July Mixes 2 (UK)
Bootleg compilation: Complete Mixes (Brasil)

1989

Remix (4:40)

1989 - Remixer unknown

Ultra rare (but forgettable) remix released only in Korea, which alters the structure of the song.

Available on:
Album: Super Sabrina (Korea)

1995

Boys Radio lovers remix (5:36)

1995 - Remixed by Lawyers & Jurga

After a difficult comeback in 1994 with Rockawillie and Angel boy, Sabrina decided in 1995 to re-record her smash hit Boys. If a single was released in France, it seems that Sabrina never promoted it. Strangely, this (long) version was chosen to be the A-side of the single while the NYDP Mix would have been more adapted to a single release.

Available on:
12": Boys Boys Boys Remixes (France)
CD single: Boys Boys Boys Remixes (France)
Compilation: Boys (France, 2001)

Boys NYDP Mix (3 :40)

1995 - Remixed by Elvio Moratto

In 1995, Sabrina performed this version many times on Spanish TV as she was promoting her album Maschio dove sei. This remix appeared as the B-side of Sabrina's Boys Remixes single released in France in 1995. Like the 2 next remixes, it was commissioned by Elvio Moratto who had co-wroten My chico and Gringo a few years before.

Available on:
12": Boys Boys Boys Remixes (France)
CD single: Boys Boys Boys Remixes (France)

Boys Chorus Remix (5:35)

1995 - Remixed by Elvio Moratto

Not a Vocal nor a Dub version, only the chorus was kept for this remix.

Available on:
12": Boys Boys Boys Remixes (France)

Boys Only Music Remix (5:35)

1995 - Remixed by Elvio Moratto

Instrumental version of the Radio Lovers Remix featuring a shorter intro.

Available on:
12" : Boys Boys Boys Remixes (France)

1996

Boys 1996 (4:28)

1996 - Arranged by Matteo Bonsanto, Giovanni Bianchi, Ugo Bolzoni

If the production is a bit cheap, this remix is the best of the 2 produced for the Remix 1996 album.

Available on:
Album: Remix 1996 (Italy)

Boys 1996 - Next Generation (6:36)

1996 - Arranged by Matteo Bonsanto, Giovanni Bianchi, Ugo Bolzoni

Very hard to recognize dub version of Boys.

Available on:
Album: Remix 1996 (Italy)

Smurfs Versions – Schtroumpfs Version

1996 - Mixed by Fred Tunetier - Unreleased
French lyrics : C. Delatour

In 1996, Sabrina was the guest on the British TV show Eurotrash where she performed this French Smurfs/Schtroumpfs version. If she probably recorded the whole song, only the refrain was broadcasted :

Schtroumpfs, Schtroumpfs, Schtroumpfs,
C’est la formule magique
Schtroumpfs, Schtroumpfs, Schtroumpfs,
Du train de la musique
Schtroumpfs, Schtroumpfs, Schtroumpfs,
C’est la formule magique
Schtroumpfs, Schtroumpfs, Schtroumpfs,
Du petit train très chic

The same year, the version "performed" by the Smurfs, had been already released on CD single in France. This version also features on the album "Schtroumpfs Party 2".

2003

Boys 2003 Doug Laurent Remix (5:00)

2003 - Remixed by Doug Laurent

If the 1987 vocals (only the refrain) were kept, the instruments were removed for this (interesting) remix.

Available on:
12": Boys Boys Boys The Dance Remixes (Germany)

Boys 2003 Future Shock Less Vocal Mix (5:00)

2003 - Remixed by Future Shock

Dub version of the previous remix.

Available on:
12": Boys Boys Boys The Dance Remixes (Germany)

Boys 2003 Renegade Masters Remix (6:32)

2003 - Remixed by Renegade Masters

Bad techno-dance remix featuring a sample of the Doug Laurent Remix.

Available on:
12": Boys Boys Boys The Dance Remixes (Germany)

Boys Boys Boys 2003

2003 - Remixer unknown

Despite its title, this remix is different from The Dance Remixes released the same year. It was commissioned for the Spanish compilation Regreso al futuro 2 (Blanco y Negro).

Available on:
Various artists compilation: Regreso al futuro 2 (Spain)

Boys 2003 Instrumental (3:48)

2003 - Remixer unknown - Unreleased

Sabrina sang live over this instrumental in several TV shows (Absolument été - France, M6, 27/06/2003; La télé de Sébastien - France 2, 19/11/2005). If the rap is performed by Sabrina herself, this version begins with a sample of the original male rapper's voice.

2004

Boys Boys Boys 2004

2003 - Remixer unknown

Remix released on a Spanish-only DJ promo CD (Label : Filmax) on December the 31st 2003. Is it the same remix as the one featuring on the Spanish compilation CD Regreso al futuro 2 ?

Available on:
Various artists compilation: Remixed hits 2 (Spain)

2007 - Remixer unknow - Unreleased

Remix of the original version to promote her performance at the RFM Party 80. This version was finally released in 2013 on the French promo cd album sampler "Stars 80 Le Live".

New recording performed "live" (?) at Le Stade de France, on May 9th, 2015.

Years unknown

Limited Club Mix (9:46)

2006 ? - Remixer unknown

Excellent extended version of the original mix. It's more or less a vocal version of the instrumental available on the B-side of the 12" released in 1987/88. It's the longest version of Boys.

Was it unreleased till 2006? Was it remixed by a DJ in 2006 for the Brasilian double CD compilation released the same year by ProdDISC (a bootleg)?

Available on:
Bootleg compilation: Complete Mixes (Brasil)

Boys Original version (5 :28)

2008 ? - Remixer unknown

In 2008, Wagram France released a collection of 80s CD singles. Boys was one of them. 2 of the 3 versions then released were known while this Original version was new. Despite its title, this version is different from the extended available on the A-side of the 12" released in 1987. If these 2 versions are identical till 3’43 they then differ.

Available on:
Maxi CD: Boys/Comanchero (France)
